If you are starting out with indoor gardening, there is a lot to learn. One of the important environmental factors that you will need to provide for your plants is appropriate light. Plants need light for photosynthesis. Plants have the amazing ability to change light energy through photosynthesis into glucose and oxygen, which they need to thrive and grow. You will want to consider the grow lights you use in your indoor growing area very carefully, because it is a major aspect that will affect the success of your gardening venture. There are several new grow lights, and very popular ones include HID lights, HPS grow lights, LED grow lights, and MH grow lights. These are all hydroponic gardening grow lights, and all can be used with plants grown in soil as well.

HID lights go by the full name of high-intensity discharge lights. MH grow lights and HPS grow lights are also high-intensity discharge lamps. HID lights produce a great deal of light that more closely resembles sunlight than the light produced by either incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs, which is better for plant growth and reproduction. The way light is produced by HID lamps is when you turn the electricity on, the current runs through a ballast, which regulates the electrical flow to the electrodes, which are inside an arc tube, along with various gases and metals. When an electrical arc is produced, the gas in the tube helps start the light bulb, and the metals, once they reach the appropriate temperature, evaporate and produce the light that you see.

HPS grow lights make excellent hydroponic lights. HPS stands for high-pressure sodium, and these are used by professional growers to produce vegetables and flowers indoors commercially. HPS lamps use mercury in the arc tube, as well as sodium, and this makes for good color rendering, or colors showing up accurately when lit by the bulb. The spectrum color that a bulb gives off is important, because plants thrive under different colors depending on their stage of maturity. If you are trying to grow lettuce, for example, you will want to use the blue light spectrum under which it thrives. If you have mature tomato plants that you want to produce fruit and flowers, then you will want to use a red/orange spectrum to induce the plant to behave appropriately.

LED grow lights are called this due to a light-emitting diode that allows the lamp to produce light. These lights are handy because they come in an array of colors used in growing plants, and they produce a lot of light that is easily focused where you need it. They have a very long life as well.

MH grow lights are metal halide lamps. The arc tubes of these compact and efficient bulbs contain argon gas, mercury and a mix of metal halides. Like other HID lights, these lights require the use of a ballast in order to function properly.

Susan Slobac works at a Hydroponics supply store and is knowledgeable about grow lights. She has been taught by industry professionals about the details of hydroponic lights and shares her insights on the many varieties of grow lights for indoor gardening.

If you would like to give hydroponic gardening a try, one of the hydroponic supplies that you will need is HID lights. HID, or High Intensity Discharge, lamps will provide the strong light that plants need to thrive in an indoor setting. In order for these lamps to work properly, they must function in conjunction with a ballast.

An HID light consists of a glass tube that contains tungsten electrodes, gas and metals. You see light emit from the tube when an electrical arc is struck across the electrodes. The gas helps the light to start, and once the metals are heated they function to produce the light. Gardeners enjoy the benefits of using these lights because they provide light that most closely resembles sunlight, a definite plus when you are growing plants indoors without exposure to sunlight. They are also cost efficient, because they last longer than other light bulbs and are more energy efficient.

The ballast is used to start the lamp and to allow the electricity to continue flowing through the bulb to keep the light on. The ballast’s function is to control the electrical current running through the glass bulb so that there is just enough current flowing through so that the light ignites and is maintained, but not so much that the bulb is destroyed. Having said that, it is clear that you must use a ballast when you want to run your HID lights in order to control the electrical current; otherwise, they will not work properly.

There are three different types of ballasts that are used with high intensity discharge lights, and they include magnetic ballasts, electronic ballasts, and digital ballasts. A magnetic ballast is also called a core and coil ballast, which refers to the components inside the ballast. Along with a capacitor, they work together to control the current to ignite the light and keep the energy flowing at exactly the correct rate for the bulb. Some magnetic ballasts also come with an igniter, which are used in coordination with sodium and metal halide lamps. Electronic ballasts use electronic circuitry to control the electrical flow within the HID bulb. A digital ballast works on a higher frequency, so it produces more light but uses less energy to do so. The digital aspect of the ballast allows it to function at consistently correct temperatures, which helps the bulbs to last longer.

Susan Slobac discusses what a ballast is and how it works within your hydroponic gardening system. Focused on saving you money, she details what types of ballasts to use with the hydroponic grow lights already in use in your garden. Her advice can make a substantial impact on the overall cost of producing fruits and vegetable in an indoor garden. You will need the proper ballast made to work with the specific hydroponic grow lamps you would like to use. There are several types of bulbs, including mercury vapor, low and high pressure sodium, and metal halide. The ballasts can vary depending on the bulb’s wattage and type, so that you can get exactly what you need.

Want to throw out your car’s headlamps for their lousy performance? You better reach out for an HID conversion kit. Rid you night driving stress and see far much beyond the dashboard.

What is HID?

If you’ve ever wondered about the bluish lights from the headlamps of other cars, you have seen HID lamps at work. It is no big secret, really. These High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps use mercury vapor, metal halide, or low or high pressure sodium. HID headlamps are more efficient and much brighter. They also draw less energy from a car’s battery.

The bluish green lamps are emitted by earlier Mercury vapor lamps. Today, the lights are whiter. Sodium lamps have yellow light, but high pressure sodium headlamps give off whiter illumination and the metal halide lamps produce light that is more natural.

The halogen-tungsten with sealed beams that you are using is fading out with the bold invasion of HID. These hit the scene in 1991 with the BMW 7-series. The North American market was quite slow in adopting the new technology, but it was immediately embraced in Europe and Japan. Finally, in 1996, the Mark VIII was the first American car to use these bulbs.

Arc Light Technology

HID bulbs produce what is known as the arc light effect. In conventional bulbs, electricity passes through a wire filament. Higher electricity voltage creates an arc of light which you see as a whiter illumination. The light produced is three times brighter than the common filament application.

HID bulbs have a lot of uses outside cars. You may also want to have the arc lights on your bike for those late afternoon races. Perhaps you need brighter light to warm your exotic plants or greens in your plant nursery. Brighter lights also assure safety on the road and security inside big retail outlets, shops, and parking lots.

Costly But Worth It

Make those long night drives during heavy rains hassle-free with HID headlamps. Upgrade your car’s headlamp with HID bulbs. You can opt for bluish, white, or yellow light. But for night driving, white light is preferable.

These bulbs are easy to install if you can get to the headlight assembly. Simply remove old bulbs and install new ones. However, you must make sure that your hands are clean and free of grease or you’ll end up contaminating the sensitive new bulbs. You can be sure that your new HID bulbs have been tried for their staying power, which passed the 200-hour test.

If you lack the tools and the expertise, you can have the bulbs installed by a mechanic. This may cost you $300 to $1,800, so make inquiries about the possibilities with regards to your car make and model.

Go For The Best HID bulbs

There are lots of HID bulbs out there. When it is about your car, look for the HID headlamps that will allow for “flash to pass” and give extra light on demand. Avoid HID bulbs that require more start up current, which may wear down your car’s wiring and other components. The best ones may be expensive, but when it comes to convenience and safety, you money is well spent.

HID bulbs have revolutionized the world of automotive driving. Install an HID kit now and get superior lighting even in the worst driving condition. Trust your HID bulb to give you unparalleled illumination for the rest of your car’s life.

The Product of Brilliance

Thomas Edison was a genius. So was Carl Benz. Edison literally lit up the world while Benz (excuse the pun) mobilized it. Whoever thought of putting incandescent bulbs into automobiles was not too bad himself. Headlights revolutionized the world of driving. It allowed for 24-hour driving and made the road safer for motorists.

But incandescent bulbs have its share of disadvantages. For one thing, it causes glare that can be discomforting and dangerous. And since incandescent bulbs work on the concept of heat transmission, they can also be very inefficient. Another downside is that incandescent bulbs will only run for about 1,000 hours.

For years, engineers and technicians have been working on creating the perfect headlights for your car. As a result, a variety of lighting systems have been developed. These include halogen headlights and High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs. Among these automotive lighting systems, the HID bulb has proven to be the most efficient.

How the HID Bulb Works its Genius

The HID bulb produces intense bright light that’s perfect for the most distressing driving conditions. Install this in your car and drive through the thickest fog without the worry. An HID bulb uses xenon. Unlike the incandescent light and halogen light, this does not have a filament and does not work with heat. Instead, it sends large amounts of electricity through gas which creates an electric arc that emits the light.

Halogen lights have been around for a long time and will probably still be around for the years to come. However, people are beginning to realize the edge of installing an HID kit. The yellowish beams produced by the conventional halogen bulb does not compare to the bright white light of the HID bulb. HID bulbs also consume less power than halogen lamps.

Why Halogen Headlamps Must Leave Your Car

Still not convinced? Compare the life span of your old halogen lamp to that of an HID bulb. You’ll be amazed to find out that while your halogen lamp has a limited lifetime, a top-of the-line HID bulb will last the lifetime of your car. Before you trade in your old headlights, check out your options. Hundreds of manufacturers and distributors have popped up due to the incredible demand for the product, thus, you’ll have to do some window-shopping or site hopping.

If your budget is your concern, look around for HID automotive lighting kits within your range. Just a friendly reminder: whatever budget you’re working on, never settle for cheap, aftermarket HID kits. These kits may be easier on your bank account but they won’t last long.

Do customer service research, especially when considering unknown vendors. Look around and compare offers. Be sure to ask for product warrantees when purchasing your very own HID conversion kit. The rule of thumb when buying your HID bulb and lighting system is that you get what you pay for. Don’t worry if you find that you’re spending a little more than you would on halogen lamps. You can count on your HID kits to be worth every penny.

Coasting the night highways can be worrisome if your beam power is failing and the lights are dimming. An HID bulb will change all this with stunning efficiency faster than you can say “special delivery”.

The Power Bulb

The HID bulb is going places, in style. It is lighting up sleek, expensive car models. You don’t have to sell your soul to replace your 8-year-old reliable old car. You can have that same light power on the road without emptying your pockets.

When shopping for new car headlamps consider your options and know the features of each HID bulb. If you search online, you will discover the newest HID bulb and the usual generic ones. The reliable HID lamps are:

D2S H4 H13 bi-Xenon 9006 HID

D2R H4 bi-Xenon 9003 HID 9007 HID

H1 H7 9004 HID 9008 bi-Xenon

H3 H11 9005 HID

If you are going for total conversion, you can choose the appropriate HID kit:

D2S 9005 H1 H8

D2R 9006 H3 H4 bi-Xenon

9004 9007 H4 H13

9005 9008 H7

The HID Edge

The HID bulb produces 2,800 and 3,500 lumens from wattage of 35 and 38 electrical powers, as opposed to your halogen headlamp that only gives an output of 700 to 2,100 lumens from 40 and 72 watts. This has to be powered by a voltage of 12.8.

Your HID lamp can also emit a given beam light. You can adjust the beam light smaller than your halogen beam lights. The Xenon headlamp will be able to give a robust beam if you want to retain a larger beam pattern.

You have heard a lot of talk about the Xenon bulb, and wondered all about it. The Xenon bulb is the smartest kid on the block. A Xenon HID bulb uses, Xenon gas, obviously. This gas gets the light going during start up. The light output picks up further when the car has fully warmed up. If your car head lamp uses argon, it would take longer for the light to reach their full brightness.

Performance wise, the Xenon and your choice of HID bulb can reflect road signs and markings better. The full beam light allows you to see further down the road than the regular halogen lamps.

What do you need an igniter and ballasts for?

Since HID bulbs cannot be powered by low voltage DC, you will need ballast with an external or internal igniter. When you switch on the headlamp, the igniter goes to work immediately by driving the several thousand volts to start the arc that occurs between the electrodes inside the bulb. The arc causes heat to vaporize the metallic salts that are in the arc chamber. Meanwhile, the ballast will slowly transform the operation to the arc operation.

You will find this operation in the D1 or D2 HID bulb and mercury-free D3 and D4 HID bulbs. If you are an environmentalist, get the mercury-free HID bulb versions. You’ll never go wrong. Test your bright white light when you have your new HID headlamps. You can make long distance travel to deliver your goods safely and conveniently after dark.

HID – High Intensity Discharge – The HID system is a lighting system containing a set of 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts and 2 starters. These kits are designed to produce more light and last longer than any other lighting kits out there. HID kits are a complete replacement to your existing headlight bulb, yet they are extremely easy to install. That starter takes the signal from the vehicle and quickly sends it to the ballast. The ballast then amplifies the signal to a high current signal and sends it to the bulb. The plug in HID bulb receives the signal and creates the light. The bulb is filled with a mixture of gases and salts. When the bulb receives the amplified power from the ballast, it energizes the gases in the bulb creating a white/blue light output. The color varies, depending on the Kelvin (K)/color temperature of the kit.

HID kits dramatically improve night vision driving. Reports show that 60% of night accidents are caused due to poor lighting conditions. HID kits illuminate hundreds of feet in front of the vehicle. It is also useful in the rain where lines are harder to see. These kits are also designed to last up to 10 times longer than conventional bulbs. Since there is no filament to break, road bumps and shock cannot damage the lamp.

Hid lighting kits range from 3,000K – 10,000K color ranges. The higher the Kelvin (K) of the kit, they bluer the light output is. Ideal driving ranger from an HID kit would be between 6000K and 8000K. This most closely resembles sunlight. There is a good selection of color options ranging from white to purple and blue, so find what works for you and enjoy the ride. These cool blue color hid kits will really look awesome with a little bit of blue accent lighting, or even some underglow lighting.

Hid kits are becoming increasingly popular with tuners and car enthusiasts alike. These kits offer exceptional night driving illumination, and even widen the visible night driving range. So what else do they offer?

We like these kits because of the functionality and visual appeal they offer. The really do add class to your car, as well as give you a little bit more confidence behind the wheel in less than perfect conditions such as fog, rain, or night time driving. These kits are easy to install. First, layout the components and find a good mounting spot for both the ballast and starter. Be sure the wiring from the both of them, including the bulb, reach without being too snug. Once you find a mounting spot, mount them securely into place. Be sure to fasten them well to the vehicle. Now, remove the stock halogen bulb from the headlight housing using latex gloves and unplug the plug from it. Now take that plug and plug it into the starter you just mounted. Plug the starter into the ballast, then carefully plug the new bulb into the headlight housing. Use latex gloves to do this because you don’t want to touch the bulbs with your fingers. It should go in the same way the old one came out. Once it is securely fastened into place with all rubber garments reconnected, plug the ballast into the bulb.
If anybody can offer a life guarantee for a car headlamp, then something great is really going on. The product’s superiority can back up such an outrageous offer. Why would you hesitate to take it up?

Great Product or Just A Great Offer?

A product guaranteed for life? Nobody can resist this kind of offer for a Bi-Xenon HID lamp, not when it is about great lighting for a car’s headlamp. But it does not hurt to find out if the product is all hype or really worth the trouble to check out.

The High Intensity Discharge, or HID, is the latest in lighting technology that changed how everybody viewed car headlamps. Car headlamps have gone from so-so to uber cool. High-end cars have been showing off headlights that emit a greenish white, bluish white, or a purple haze light.

It’s not just the colors that are catching on. The Bi-Xenon HID lamps are brighter and covers more ground area sideways and long distance views when the high beam is on. For the regular guys, this simply means they can see road signs farther ahead. This convenience adds to their night driving confidence.

The Bi-Xenon HID kits have separate halogen lamps for the flash-to-pass signals. The combination of the Xenon and the halogen lamps produce HID low and high beam. With better high beams and halogens for flash signals, the Bi-Xenon is an improvement on the low beam Xenon. As a bonus, the Bi-Xenon HID lamps do not draw too much car battery power. With all these features plus being street legal, the lifetime guarantee is indeed the icing on the cake.

What is Xenon Technology?

Xenon is an inert, colorless, and tasteless gas. This is often used in photography flashbulbs. The white light produced by the flash bulb is the output of the Xenon gas. In relation to headlamps, the Bi-Xenon HID systems create light differently from halogen lamps.

Inside the Bi-Xenon HID bulbs is a small capsule that contains Xenon gas and halide salts. Together, these combine to create that powerful light three times brighter than your old halogen bulbs. Halogen bulbs rely on the car’s 12 V system but the HID lamps need ballast to provide the higher voltage. If the halogen bulbs depend on a filament to create light, HID produces light when an electrical discharge between two electrodes is ignited. These electrodes are encased in a little quartz capsule filled with Xenon gas. When you hear Xenon, it refers to the gas. This is the same with HID technology because HID bulbs use Xenon gas.

Why Should You Drop that Halogen Lamp?

Whenever you hit the road with your car, the vibrations damage the halogen filament, so this will have you running back to the car shop to get new halogen headlamps. Vibrations and other shock effects will not damage your Bi-Xenon HID lamps because nothing is breakable inside the bulb. During long distance traveling at nighttime, your BI-Xenon HID will not generate that much heat because it consumes less power from your car’s voltage system. With that lifetime guarantee for a hard working headlamp, why hesitate?

If you’ve had enough of the bleak light of your motorbike’s headlamps, better start thinking about getting an HID kit and hit the road with confidence. You can even choose your illumination color to fit your personality, whether you’re a blue, purple, or white person.

Be All The Rage

The gang’s out there honking their horns. You’re ready to show off your bike’s purple light and can’t wait to do so. Wait until dark and you’ll have them all drooling. Nice thought? That’s your biggest secret for the moment. Your H4 bi-Xenon HID kit has given you the edge over their Harleys, Ducatis, Augustas, and Hondas, and they don’t know it yet.

When dusk falls, you switch on your HID headlamps. Right there and then you get the admiring toots and yells. You’ve made your trusty Honda the star of the pack. Your purple headlights beam on more areas ahead on the road and you zoom ahead. You’ve got the raves and you’re all the rage, thanks to your conversion effort with your HID kit.

Your Car Can Get It Too

The HID headlamps for cars are just as cool. They are also long lasting and eat up less of you car money in the long run. Switching the lights off and on won’t work up your car battery. You can save a lot of money with smart HID headlamps. If your car is a 2000 model, it probably does not have a closed beam, which makes conversion to HID headlamps less costly, and you can do the installation yourself. But if you are not comfortable with electronics and automotives, better get a reliable mechanic to install the headlamps from your HID kit.

When choosing your new HID headlamps, get the right HID kit. You can go online and browse all the car accessory sites and compare features and prices. You can go to dealers and gather information. They will be very eager to help you.

Different Strokes from Different Kits

There are different kits for different needs. There is the D2S HID kit. This kit contains 2 HID D2S Xenon bulbs, 2 35W ballasts, and 2 steel ballast harnesses. There will be four steel screws for mounting the system. Whether you choose 9005 bulbs, the HID kit will contain the same items compatible with your bulbs.

If you are wondering about warranty, there is always something really great going on, if you know where to find them. Depending on your HID kit of choice, you can have a 2-year to a lifetime warranty. All the HID bulbs have been engineered for the best light output, have a staying power of 200 hours, and are waterproof and shockproof. You can be confident with HID headlamps when you take a spin anytime and anywhere.

Why Switch?

With a reliable dealer, you are going to get advantages aside from the swell night time look. You can have your beam corrected. Other motorists will thank you for the minimal glare and you get mileage in safety. You won’t have those worrisome aftermarket shocks.

If you compare the illumination of halogen lamps with the HID version, you will be stunned to discover that halogen lamps are outshined with the crisp lighting of HID bulbs, so have your beam pattern after conversion looked over. HID kits are worth it. You’ll own the roads in no time.

Let your 1998 Lexus GS sport be a superstar and dazzle. A pair of 9006 HID headlamps will do the trick. Go get your conversion kit and coast around town, but be sure to care for your HID bulbs.

It’s your car’s turn for a makeover

When your car’s headlights are eclipsed by brighter lights, it’s time for a change. Your nine-year-old car can once again regain its former glory. Just opt for a purplish or greenish glow and you’re all set. A 9006 HID kit will make your car’s makeover easy. In the muscle department, your 9006 HID bulb was designed to cope with wear and tear, water, and earthquake. In the looks section, the light has been tested for true color. On the speed ticker, the bulbs can respond immediately to rapid on and off switching.

Your kit will contain two 9006 HID Xenon bulbs, two 9006 HID 35W Ballasts, 2 steel HID ballast harnesses, and four steel screws. The ballast is a showcase of German and Japanese hardware – Siemens and Panasonic. There is no cut and splice here. Once installed, plug it in and you’re good to go.

But nothing lasts forever, even your car

When you have installed your 9006 HID follow these simple reminders if you want your HID lamps to last longer:

• Use only approved ballasts or your HID bulb will peter out soon.

• Cool down before you turn the bulb on and off.

• Correct your burn position or plane. Have the headlamps checked if they are direct on the pinch. It is recommended that you have horizontal burn positioning to avoid overheating.

• In handling the systems, be sure your hands are free from grease or dirt as these will affect the UV shield and the burner.

• Be sure that your 9006 bulb fits into your headlight housing. If the housing is too small, it may cause the bulb to overheat. If it is too loose, vibrations may damage the bulbs.

As a precaution, get an experienced mechanic to install the system. He has the right tools and the experience. Unless you have the skill and the know-how, you shouldn’t try installing your 9006 HID kit by yourself.

Glimmer while the going is hot

When you’ve got it, flaunt it. Your 9006 HID bulbs will show off its beam. You can offset the glare too by correcting your beam pattern. Drive around town or to the next state. No cop will be after you because you 9006 HID headlamps are street legal.

You can also have the interiors of your car lighted up with precision-engineered HID bulbs. The same HID technology will work well to provide you better illumination, so inside and out, you can see your way very well.

Your 1998 Lexus GS will be at par with other newer cars on the night road. Have your car tuned-up and oiled regularly for better performance. Have the brakes checked too. Enjoy your car’s total performance for all time driving. Just make sure you get a full warranty for your 9006 HID headlamps.

HID headlight, or High intensity discharger, is the upgraded lighting system
for your original halogen headlight, it comes with many decent features compared
to the halogen lights. The main advantages are the high light intensity provided
by the HID lamps and a low power consumption. HID lights are getting more and
more popular for automotive car headlight system, most of the new car models
are equipped with the HID lamps, and it seems that the HID lights will keep
replacing the original halogen lights in the future.

As mention above that the HID lights can provide a higher light intensity with
a lower power consumptions, there are some other factors to make it so popular.

1. Color temperature: HID has a range of color temperature measured in K, which
is a measures of the color for the lighting output. The common color temperatures
are 3000K (Golden Yellow) , 4300K (Bright White), 5000K (white), 6000K (Crystal
White),8000K (Crystal Blue), 10000K (Aqua Blue), 12000K (Purple-Blue). While
5000K and 6000K are the most common color temperature for HID lamps and its
widely accepted by most drivers because of the natural sun lights it provided.

2. Lifetime for HID lights: Most of the HID lights can last for around 2500
hours.

3. Lesser power consumption: HID lights can generate 3 times greater the light
intensity compared to the original halogen bulbs with even lesser power consumption.
You can save it up to 25% on the power.

There are something you should consider before purchasing a HID conversion kits,
check your bulb size with refer to your car model, choose the correct color
temperature, 5000K and 6000K are widely accepted, if you are planning to use
the 12000K (purple), be noticed that it’s illegal in many countries, those color
temperature are always used off the road.
